We are on the lookout for a PIC Lead to join our team. This role involves designing, implementing, and testing Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) for optical communication systems. You will have the chance to drive innovation at both the component and system levels, playing a vital role in product development and manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Simulation: Develop and simulate photonic components and overall system functionality.
- Prototyping: Create prototypes for new photonic components and systems.
- Collaboration: Partner with fabrication teams and external manufacturers on design and integration processes.
- Testing Development: Design optical testing plans and optoelectronic setups. Conduct hands-on testing and work with product teams to assess performance.
- Intellectual Property Contributions: Support the expansion of our IP portfolio through patent submissions.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 6+ years in the industry focusing on silicon or III-V photonic devices and integrated circuits.
- Foundry Experience: Strong background with photonics fabrication and tape-out processes.
- Design Tools: Proficient with CAD tools specific to photonic circuit design.
- Optics Knowledge: In-depth understanding of planar waveguide optics, covering both passive and active components.
- Simulation Expertise: Skilled in RF/SI simulation and optimization for components and systems.
- Manufacturing Insight: Familiarity with CMOS manufacturing processes and related design considerations.
- Software Proficiency: Experience with simulation tools like Lumerical, Synopsys RSoft, and IPKISS; proficiency in Python and scripting languages.
- Testing Skills: Expertise in advanced optoelectronic testing methods and equipment.
- Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary startup environment, both locally and remotely.
- Mentoring Experience: Capability to guide and mentor junior engineers.
- Analytical Mindset: Independent thinker comfortable in a fast-paced technology environment.
- Educational Background: Ph.D. in silicon photonics or a related discipline, or a BEng/MSc with applicable experience.
