Darwin Recruitment are currently hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Paris on behalf of a business that is building a secured cloud-based infrastructure that allows satellite operators to seamlessly communicate with their satellites by unifying multiple ground station networks in a single interface. The ground station network includes antennas from existing Ground-Station-a-Service providers, private networks, and this company’s own stations. The infrastructure is composed of: A control plane: to allow satellite operators to book contacts* with their satellites via an API. Behind the API, the control plane orchestrates the various ground station networks. Techno used: REST, Django, PostgreSQL, AWS Lambda, AWS ECS, Terraform. A data plane: that transmits the data between the satellite operator infrastructure and the ground station antennas, uplink, and downlink.

Job Description and Responsibilities

As a key member of our team and among the first employees, you will play a crucial role in the development of infrastructure and applicative components. Your scope will span from developing new features serving the satellites communication operations to making their ground station network scale up. This role addresses great challenges among which:

* Developing software components of the data and control planes: backend servers, client APIs, asynchronous tasks, data processing components, and astronomy computations.

* Making the cloud infrastructure scale easily with the onboarding of new customers and new ground station networks.

* Guaranteeing the stability of our services through deep testing pipelines.

* Developing the gathering of logs and metrics into our monitoring platform.

* Designing and building a multiple cloud platform that will connect to different antenna networks and customer infrastructure

* You will be responsible for delivering value by implementing features across both the application and infrastructure layers, with no silos between these two.

* While deep expertise in both areas isn’t required, you should have experience and be eager to work across both, always focusing on delivering end-to-end value.

Qualifications

* Web development skills: minimum 5 years of expertise in conceiving and building various web components.

* Architecture skills: strong experience in complex software architecture conception in the cloud, with a business-oriented mindset

* Backend skills: solid experience in backend server development.

* Infrastructure skills: minimum 5 years of experience in building and maintaining cloud components on at least one of the following cloud technologies: AWS, GCP, Azure.

* Continuous Integration and Deployment: strong experience in defining and implementing CI/CD pipeline development.

* Language skills: experience with Python as it is our main language.

* Fluency in English: The development team currently works in French. But they use English for the company-wide discussions and all the written communications.
