Hourly rate: $30ph – $40ph + Overtime + Benefits

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing maintenance on Compressed Air Systems (CAS) equipment, including troubleshooting, repairs, preventative and predictive maintenance, and emergency services. The technician will also support modifications and upgrades to existing plant equipment. Maintenance activities will be conducted in accordance with safety procedures and the company’s CMMS, aligning with the site’s business goals and objectives.

This position serves as the primary contact with the customer for day-to-day maintenance tasks, requiring regular interaction with customer representatives to develop positive and productive working relationships. Additionally, the Maintenance Technician may be required to support construction, maintenance, and commissioning activities at various company sites as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and perform general, preventative, and predictive maintenance for compressors, dryers, cooling equipment, pumps, valves, PLC/electronic controls, automation components, and instrumentation according to the companies CMMS and OEM recommendations.
  • Provide emergency and unscheduled repairs to CAS equipment during regular work hours, and be available after hours and on weekends to make recommendations or repairs.
  • Visually inspect and listen to equipment to locate malfunctions, detect wear or misalignments, diagnose problems, dismantle machines, identify root causes, and repair or replace equipment as necessary to maintain CAS uptime.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and perform repairs using system troubleshooting methodologies and diagnostic tools.
  • Maintain spare parts inventories and relationships with core equipment OEMs for full support and backup in repairs and maintenance.
  • Communicate with the customer regarding maintenance and repair activities.
  • Periodically perform system walkdowns to identify potential problems such as minor leaks, erratic control, improper valve operation, and strange noises.
  • Maintain the facility to ensure a clean and professional installation according to 5S principles.
  • Respond to “Call Outs” promptly to maintain the customer’s compressed air supply.
  • Document preventative maintenance tasks, potential safety hazards, or low inventories (e.g., water chemicals, glycol, oil, filters) as part of the weekly activity report.
  • Be able to work overtime as scheduled, with 24/7 on-call status.

Requirements:

  • Supreme Emphasis on Safety: Significant safety training and acumen, with at least OSHA 10 certification.
  • Education and Licensing: Minimum of a high school diploma and a valid driver’s license; a two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship in an industrial plant setting is a plus.
  • Technical Expertise: Proven hands-on experience in repairing and maintaining compressed air systems, including large centrifugal compressors, air dryers, instrumentation, and PLC/DCS control systems.
  • Mechanical and Electrical Skills: Strong understanding and experience in mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, and controls, with extensive troubleshooting capabilities.
  • Electrical Knowledge: Understanding basic electrical principles for safe operation and repair of electrical equipment; expertise in electrical and instrumentation is a plus.
  • Maintenance Proficiency: Familiarity with CMMS and maintenance skills.
  • Technical Reading Skills: Ability to read and follow P&IDs, sketches, schematics, blueprints, OEM specifications, and manuals for CAS equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Operational Efficiency: Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and independently, as well as in a team environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Able to lift 60 lbs., and perform tasks such as standing, stretching, and twisting as needed for service work.
  • Software Proficiency: Ability to use or learn various software systems used at company facilities, including the MS Office suite.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interface with customers and vendors.
  • Travel Requirements: Willingness to engage in significant overnight travel.

Language and Communication Skills: Ability to write basic activity reports and, if needed, update procedure manuals. Must effectively present information and respond to questions from associates, managers, and customers. Capable of reading, analyzing, and interpreting general technical procedures.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, and volume, and apply basic math concepts.

Reasoning Ability: Capable of solving practical problems and dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations with limited standardization. Ability to interpret various instructions provided in oral, written, diagram, or schedule form.

  • The associate must be able to wear required PPE, including but not limited to OSHA-approved hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and various duty-specific hand protection.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment ranges from moderate to high.
