Job Description: Automation Engineer (PCS7)

Location: Breda, North Brabant

Role Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Automation Engineer with a proven track record in Siemens PCS7 automation systems to join our dynamic team in Breda, North Brabant. As an integral member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions for a diverse range of industrial projects. Your expertise in PCS7 will be essential in delivering innovative and reliable automation systems that meet our clients’ specific needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Project Execution:
  • Lead and participate in all phases of automation projects, from conceptual design to commissioning and handover.
  • Develop detailed engineering documentation, including hardware and software specifications, system architectures, and test plans.
  • Configure and program PCS7 systems using SIMATIC Manager and STEP 7.
  • Conduct factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) to ensure system performance and compliance with project requirements.
• Technical Support:
  • Provide technical support for existing automation systems, including troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, and maintenance.
  • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve technical issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless integration of automation systems.
• Innovation:
  • Stay updated on the latest automation technologies and industry trends.
  • Identify opportunities to improve automation processes and implement innovative solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of new automation products and services.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Siemens PCS7 automation systems.
• Strong proficiency in SIMATIC Manager, STEP 7, and other relevant software tools.
• Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet, Profibus, Modbus).
• Experience with hardware integration, including PLCs, HMIs, and I/O modules.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desired Skills:

• Experience with industrial safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, SIL).
• Knowledge of specific industry verticals (e.g., oil and gas, chemicals, manufacturing).
• Familiarity with virtualization and cloud-based automation solutions.
