Position: Traveling Wind Turbine Generator Repair Technician
Job Overview:
The Traveling Wind Turbine Generator Repair Technician will perform maintenance and repair work on wind turbine generators. This includes tasks such as bearing changes, slip ring and brush replacements, rotor re-leads, and generator alignment, typically working up-tower in various outdoor conditions.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety procedures for wind turbine generators.
- Perform slip ring and brush replacements, including brush holders.
- Remove and replace Drive End (DE) and Non-Drive End (NDE) bearings.
- Conduct rotor re-leads and ensure correct generator alignment.
- Provide assistance with site operations as directed by the site supervisor.
- Complete additional related tasks as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in up-tower generator repairs.
- Ability to follow safety protocols and operational procedures as demonstrated through supervisor-led training.
- Capable of understanding technical training related to repairs and safety.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb ladders and perform tasks at heights of up to 300 feet.
- Capable of lifting and moving objects weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Must be able to work in various weather conditions, both indoors and outdoors, including extreme heat and cold.
- Must have strong vision capabilities including close, distance, and peripheral vision, as well as depth perception and focus adjustment.
- Required to stand, walk, sit, kneel, climb, crouch, and perform other physical activities for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Routine exposure to mechanical components, high altitudes, and potential electrical hazards.
- Frequent exposure to varying outdoor weather conditions, including wet/humid environments, extreme temperatures, and wind.
- Potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, vibration, and hazardous substances.
- Noise levels may range from quiet to loud, depending on the work environment.
