Job Description:

My client is recruiting a Technical Superintendent responsible for the technical operational deployment, maintenance, and dry-docking of our vessels serving the Africa/Europe region. Located in Rotterdam, Netherlands, this role requires close collaboration with international onboard crews to ensure the fleet’s optimal technical and maintenance condition, thereby securing uninterrupted services for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and execute onboard maintenance, ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Plan, organize, and supervise repairs, inspections, and dockings, including preparing technical and financial reports.
  • Serve as the primary technical contact for international crew regarding inquiries and defects.
  • Supervise and provide technical guidance and support to onboard Chief Engineers.
  • Direct and track maintenance progress and quality using the PM System (MARAD).
  • Investigate and analyse technical issues, implementing timely preventive and corrective actions.
  • Conduct onboard inspections and guide external surveys.
  • Develop and manage maintenance budgets.
  • Approve purchase orders and track the receipt of goods.
  • Communicate with suppliers, classification societies, and other external stakeholders.
  • Monitor and update ship certificates and technical documentation.
  • Manage damage reports and claims.

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant work experience
  • Compulsory ETO (Electro-Technical Officer) background
  • Essential technical and sailing experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree in a maritime or technical field
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
