FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

In our experience poor recruitment derives from poor qualification of both the job Spec and also of the candidates put forward. What we are able to provide at Darwin is a thorough qualification process which increases the chances of success every time.

Qualifying Job Requirements

Each of our consultants will build a search campaign on the back of a fully qualified Job Spec which must include, at the bare minimum:

  • Start Date
  • Job Title
  • Duties and responsibilities
  • Language requirements
  • Technical requirements
  • Budget available
  • Interview process

Potential candidates are then found through various means starting with Headhunting, candidate referrals, database searches and finally advertising.

Headhunting - Consultants at Darwin nearly always start with Headhunting because we believe that the best candidates are not always proactively looking for new job opportunities.

Referrals - Referrals are a very accurate method of finding new candidates. They reduce search times and also provide us with a personal reference from someone whose opinion we value and trust.

Advertising & Database - Finally, advertising and database searches are used to help Consultants find either those existing candidates known to us and/or those who are looking to move from their current position.

Qualifying Potential Candidates

We believe that qualifying candidates is equally as important as qualifying job requirements in order to secure a win-win situation.

Each candidate will undergo a thorough telephone interview with a Consultant before being submitted to the end Client. This is done to ensure that candidates are fully motivated and qualified for the position. Areas that are covered include;

  • Duties and responsibilities at one's current/previous job
  • Reasons for leaving/looking
  • Expectations in their next job (role, training, package, location, languages spoken ..etc)
  • Commitment: what else have they got going on?
  • References
  • Covering the issue of counter offers

Only once a candidate has passed through this entire process will they then be submitted to the end Client along with this information, (Note: this process is performed through a face to face interview where possible).

Identifying Potential Clients

Referrals – Candidates often advise our Consultants of potential Clients that they would either like us to whom approach on their behalf or of Clients who they believe would be interested in speaking to us. This invaluable service is built on the back of long-term Candidate respect.

‘Off The Street Business’ - Requests that come directly from Clients is the most preferred method of identifying job opportunities. These may come from referrals, directly from Candidates we have previously placed at a Company and Preferred Supplier Lists (PSLs).

Trade Press – Each Consultant is encouraged to make use of various Trade Press supplied to them to follow market trends, anticipate new potential clients and remain up to date in new technologies in their market specific area.

This unique Methodology distinguishes Darwin Recruitment from other organisations by providing a service that is flexible, thorough and professional. Moreover, our Methodology is continually improved whenever new ideas are suggested from employees, Candidates and, of course, Clients themselves.
